Former House Speaker John Boehner said Wednesday that if none of the Republican presidential candidates “win on the first ballot,” he wants Paul Ryan to be the party nominee.

“If we don’t have a nominee who can win on the first ballot,” Boehner told reporters at the Futures Industry Association conference in Boca Raton, “I’m for none of the above.”

“They all had a chance to win. None of them won,” he added. “So I’m for none of the above. I’m for Paul Ryan to be our nominee.”

According to Politico, Boehner singled out Ted Cruz among the remaining candidates, calling the Texas senator “Lucifer.”
