On ABC’s “This Week,” Donald Trump told George Stephanpoulos that his campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, has “spirit” when asked why he was in a crowd of protesters at a campaign rally in Tucson, Arizona.

“I give him credit for having spirit,” Trump said when asked about the video of the event that appears to show Lewandowski yanking the collar of a protester.

When asked why Lewandowski was in the crowd in the first place, Trump said arena security and local police had dropped the ball and blamed the vulgar signs protesters we waving.

“You know what, because security at the arena, the police were a little bit lax,” Trump said, “and they had signs up in that area that were horrendous, that I cannot say what they said on the sign, but the ultimate word.”
