Fourteen years worth of late fees just caught up with an unsuspecting North Carolina man.

According to WSOC-TV, police officers pulled over James Meyers of Concord, N.C. for a busted tail light as he was driving his daughter to school Tuesday morning.

After running his license, Meyers says the officer hit him with some unexpected bad news.

“The officer said, ‘I don’t know how to tell you this but there’s a warrant out for your arrest from 2002,'” he told WSOC-TV. “‘Apparently you rented the movie “Freddy Got Fingered” and never returned it.’ I thought he was joking.”

Unfortunately, the officer wasn’t.

The officers let Meyers drop off his daughter at work on the condition that he turn himself in later that day.

Meyers hopes to sort out this mess at his April 27 court date.

“They’re not focusing on the crimes I think they should be focusing on,” he explained. “That hour the cops sat out there with me, the hour and a half I was down in the magistrate’s office could have been spent somewhere else.”
