South Carolina Sen. [crscore]Lindsey Graham[/crscore] has endorsed Texas Sen. [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore] for president but thinks Ohio Gov. John Kasich would do a better job than Cruz serving in the Oval Office.

Since dropping out of the Republican primary, the South Carolina has endorsed Jeb Bush and then Cruz.

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe Thursday Graham was asked whether the Texas senator would make a good president.

He said Cruz “would make a better president than Donald Trump, for damn sure, and I think he’d take the country in a new direction other than [Hillary] Clinton.”

The South Carolina senator added, “Would he make the best president? No, I don’t think so, of all the people running.

He then joked, “John Kasich wins by 11 points against Hillary, so he’s absolutely out. Nobody wants a loser like that.”

When asked if Kasich would make for a better president than Cruz, Graham replied, “[I] think so. So what’s your point?”

He explained his support for Cruz saying, “I have differences with Ted Cruz that are well-known, but I think we share the same political DNA, and at the end of the day, I think he is a reliable Republican conservative, and Mr. Trump is not.” (RELATED: Graham Jokes: Nothing Would Happen If You ‘Murdered’ Cruz On The Senate Floor)

It is currently mathematically impossible for Kasich to get the nomination unless through a contested convention. Cruz has a shot to get the 1,237 delegates necessary to win on the first ballot, albeit a very unlikely shot.

If it down to Trump vs. Clinton in the general election, Graham said, “I’m not voting for Clinton. Ask me after the convention who I’ll vote for.”
