A group of Iowa State football players are being credited with saving the life of a woman who was trapped in a sinking car.
Luisa Maria Castro is finally opening up about almost dying March 16 when her car was submerged in water in South Padre, Texas.
Current Cyclones players Anthony Lazard and Jack Spreen, with the help of former player Joe Doran, rushed to her aid as she shouted for help. The three men fought through the water to Castro’s car and got her out through a broken window, according to the Des Moines Register.
“They really are heroes, and I am forever grateful for what they did,” Castro told the Des Moines Register.
Police said that if it weren’t for the young men, then Castro “would most certainly have drowned.”
