Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ campaign manager said Tuesday that an increasingly divisive campaign run by Hillary Clinton risks destroying the Democratic Party.

Bernie’s campaign manager Jeff Weaver delivered a message to Clinton on CNN saying, “Don’t destroy the Democratic Party to satisfy the secretary’s ambitions to become president of the United States.”

The Vermont senator is coming off a series of wins in the primaries, winning the last seven of eight contests. Clinton is now stepping up her rhetoric against Sanders.

In an interview out Wednesday she said she doesn’t even know if the Vermont senator is a Democrat. Later Wednesday she has a press call scheduled to attack Sanders’ gun record featuring the sister of a victim in the Newtown school shooting.

Weaver said, “we want to have a party at the end of this that we can unify.”

“The senator has tried to run an issue-oriented campaign; obviously the contrast has become sharper of late,” the campaign manager said. He added, “we’re fully prepared to engage in that environment if they want to.”
