The Supreme Court refused Wednesday to unseal records a lawyer is implying would reveal an unnamed 2016 presidential candidate used an expensive prostitution service for D.C. politicians.
The Supreme Court denied a petition from the lawyer, Montgomery Blair Sibley, to have the records unsealed, which includes the escort service’s former clientele, reported NBC News. Sibley has said the records are relevant to voters and would impact the 2016 election, implying one of them is a presidential candidate.
“Time is of the essence,” Sibley said in the Supreme Court filing. “Given the significance of the upcoming political primaries and caucuses, in the looming Republican and Democratic conventions on July 18th and July 25th respectively, and given the impact of the presently sealed from the public record that this attorney seeks to release, upon those electoral deliberations, expedited resolution to this application is incumbent upon this court.”
Chief Justice Jon Roberts swiftly denied Sibley’s request without comment, signaling he didn’t buy Sibley’s argument for unsealing the records.
The National Enquirer alleged last month Cruz’s name is in a “black book” of contacts for the former DC Madam. “If Montgomery Sibley has what he says he has, it has to be Cruz,” Wayne Madsen, a former Hustle reporter who covered Palfrey’s arrest told The Telegraph.
Cruz has denied the allegations.
Sibley represented Deborah Jeane Palfrey, known as the DC Madam, who allegedly ran the escort service for many years in the city, catering to the political elite. She hung herself in 2008 to avoid a lengthy prison sentence for her crimes.
