Over 19,000 people have signed an Internet petition demanding that the curators of the Hollywood Walk of Fame remove a sidewalk star commemorating Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s recent work as a reality television host.

“Donald Trump has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and it has been vandalized again and again since the start of his presidential campaign,” the Care2 petition reads. “It’s clear that the community does not think he deserves to be represented there.”

Petition author Kelsey Bourgeois argues that Trump’s sidewalk star “along with the likes of Meryl Streep, Bill Murray and Audrey Hepburn is an insult.”

Over 2,000 other entertainment figures have Hollywood Walk of Fame stars including Kermit the Frog, the Muppets character; David Spade, the “Wienerdude” manager in “Reality Bites”; Judith Sheindlin — a retired family court judge better known as “Judge Judy” who presides over a highly-rated daytime reality show courtroom; and legendary pop-rock balladeer Michael Bolton.

Trump’s Walk of Fame star, which has existed since 2007, has been repeatedly vandalized since he entered the GOP presidential fray.

While Snopes.com has debunked claims that people regularly poop on Trump’s star, the site famous for investigating urban legends notes that Walk of Fame visitors have urinated on Trump’s star, slathered it with a swastika and a mute symbol, and defaced it with — possibly fake, possibly real — dog poop. (The urination link in this paragraph is, at best, barely work-safe.)

“The presidential candidate and former reality TV star has been spawning hateful, sexist and racist rhetoric since the beginning of his campaign,” the petition says. “Trump’s despicable messaging represents all the worst parts of our national conversation, which explains the public’s disdain for this historical monument to him.”

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Hollywood Historic Trust, a nonprofit group that maintains the sidewalk stars along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, has no plans to remove Trump’s star, according to Snopes.
