When 25-year old Trent Harmon shocked the world by beating judge-favorite La’Porsha Renae in the “American Idol” series finale on Thursday, voices on the Left were quick to demonize Harmon. As the headline of the Morning Mix column in the Washington Post put it: “Surprising no one, white man bests black woman to become final ‘American Idol’ winner.” The column goes on to display tweets of social justice warriors calling “American Idol” racist for crowning “ANOTHER basic white boy.”

How the mighty has fallen. Now, less than a week later, the SJW community has turned on La’Porsha Renae. Renae, who is from McComb, Mississippi, got in trouble when responding to a question about the Magnolia State’s new religious liberty law, saying she does not agree with the gay “lifestyle.” That prompted a backlash on Twitter, prompting the 22-year old to jump in on social media to defend herself:

That doesn’t seem to have gone over much better. Hollywood Life reports: “‘American Idol’ runner-up La’Porsha Renae is under major fire for comments she recently made about the LGBT community. After referring to it as a ‘lifestyle,’ La’Porsha has been faced with lots of backlash on social media.”

Both La’Porsha Renae and Trent Harmon scored recording contracts after the show. You can check out Harmon’s winning song “Falling” and Renae’s runner-up “Battles” on iTunes.
