When your father is running for president you can get very busy, as Ivanka and Eric Trump have learned. So busy, in fact, that you can forget to register as a Republican so you can vote in your home state’s closed primary.

Ivanka Trump, who gave birth to her third child two weeks ago, and younger brother Eric missed New York’s March 30 deadline to register as Republicans, thus making them ineligible to vote for their father in the state’s April 19 primary.

Donald Trump told Fox and Friends, “They had a longtime register and they were, you know, unaware of the rules, and they didn’t register in time. So they feel very, very guilty.”

“But it’s fine. I understand that. I think they have to register a year in advance, and they didn’t. So Eric and Ivanka, I guess, won’t be voting,” Trump continued.
