Newly hired Georgia Tech head basketball coach Josh Pastner made a shocking admission when he made it clear that if an assistant coach enjoys golf then there’s no chance he’ll get hired.

Pastner, who previously coached at Memphis, made the comments while speaking with The Atlanta Journal Constitution. He said in part:

My first question to anyone I (might) hire is, ‘Do you golf?’” If they say, ‘Yes,’ you can’t work for me, because that means five hours on a Sunday or on a Saturday. Can’t. Don’t want it. That’s for my assistant coaches. Any of my assistant coaches, if they’re golfers, not working for me.

Don’t be surprised too much that Pastner has absolutely no time for frivolous hobbies. He said in the same interview that he once skipped his high school prom so that he could practice getting better at basketball. (SLIDESHOW: This Gorgeous Olympian Loves To Show Off Lots Of Skin)

Perhaps this winning attitude can get Georgia Tech basketball back to winning.
