Former Syracuse football player Naesean Howard was arrested Saturday and charged with assaulting two Orange defensive backs.

According to Syracuse.com, the 20-year-old Howard — who was dismissed from the team following the 2014 season — allegedly stabbed redshirt junior safety Chauncey Scissum and redshirt junior cornerback Corey Winfield during an off-campus incident.

An Upstate University Hospital spokesman stated Winfield is currently in stable condition but would not comment on Scissum’s status.

Howard is currently being held at Onondaga County Justice Center.

He has been charged with two counts of second degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
