During Tuesday’s “Morning Joe” on MSNBC, host Joe Scarborough vented his bewilderment as to why some establishment Republicans seem to prefer Sen. [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore] over Gov. John Kasich in a general election, arguing that the Texas senator is “Barry Goldwater’s ugly stepson.”

Regarding Kasich, Scarborough said, “He’s great on national security. … He also just happened to be the first budget chairman in a generation to balance the budget. He was the first since the 1920s to balance it four years in a row. A conservative that can work with Democrats. Again, this isn’t about Kasich versus Trump. This is about Kasich versus Cruz.”

“Why has the establishment chosen the guy that is Barry Goldwater’s ugly stepson?” Scarborough asked.

Fellow co-host Mika Brzezinski chimed in adding, “If you’re going to rig the game, make the right choice.” (LISTEN: Limbaugh: Republican Establishment Will Vote For Hillary Over Trump In Order To Keep Power)

Scarborough continued, “Politically, [Cruz] is going to win nine, 10 states if he gets in the general election. I’ve got a lot of friends that are really embarrassing themselves right now by telling me that he can win the general election against Hillary Clinton. This beautiful Boston Red Sox cup has a far better chance of picking up swing states than does Ted Cruz.”

Brzezinski added, “I love the Red Sox.”

Scarborough added, “Sip to victory” before taking a drink from his Red Sox cup.
