Thousands of people are calling for a boycott of Target stores following the retailer’s announcement that they will now allow customers to use whichever bathroom or fitting room according to which gender they identify with.

A pledge was started by the American Family Association (AFA), according to the SF Gate, and so far 182,000 people have signed on to boycott the retailer.

“Target’s policy is exactly how sexual predators get access to their victims,” said the organization’s president Tim Wildmon in an open letter. “This means a man can simply say he ‘feels like a woman today’ and enter the women’s restroom … even if young girls or women are already in there.”

Wildmon encouraged people to sign the “boycott pledge” and post on Target’s Facebook page that they are upset about the new policy, the report said.

As previously reported, Target’s policy comes at a time when states are grappling with passing laws that determine which restroom a  person can use, the gender they identify with or the one they were born with.
