Pennsylvania Republican Sen. [crscore]Pat Toomey[/crscore] told reporters Tuesday he voted for Texas Sen. [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore] in his state’s primary Tuesday.

“He’s a solid conservative,” said Toomey, who had initially endorsed Florida Sen. [crscore]Marco Rubio[/crscore].

“We don’t agree on everything, but having served with him in the Senate, I know Ted pretty well, and I think he’s got a real, real viable shot of beating Hillary Clinton in the fall.”

Toomey is up for re-election this cycle, and Cruz told local Pennsylvania radio host Chris Stigall that Toomey’s re-election is in “grave jeopardy” if Donald Trump is the GOP’s nominee.

“If I’m the nominee, Pat Toomey gets re-elected,” Cruz said. “If Donald Trump is the nominee, the Senate is gone and there’s nothing you can do about it.”

Trump is up by double digits in most polls in all five states having primary contests, including the Keystone State.

Cruz is campaigning in Indiana Tuesday in hopes he will beat Trump in the winner-take-all primary next week.
