First lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden recognized military service members and their families on Monday’s episode of “The Voice.”

“We are particularly excited to be here with these extraordinary military families,” Obama said, highlighting Obama and Biden’s joint initiative called Joining Forces, which aims to build support for military families.

“Over the past five years through Joining Forces, Jill and I have had the privilege of traveling across this country and around the world to meet our troops, the veterans and military families,” she said. “We are in awe of their courage and their patriotism.”

The audience was reportedly full of active duty members, veterans and their families.

As previously reported, the first lady will appear on the CBS crime drama “NCIS” Tuesday as part of the project. The episode was shot at the White House.
