Bill Gates is a very successful businessman who also happens to publish a summer reading list. When successful people offer me free advice, I am wont to take it — well, at least consider it.

Here are the five books Bill Gates recommends you read during the summer of 2016:

  1. Seveneves” by Neal Stephenson
  2. How Not to be Wrong” by Jordan Ellsburg
  3. The Vital Question” by Nick Lane
  4. The Power to Compete” by Ryoichi Mikitani and Hiroshi Mikitani
  5. Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind” by Noah Yuval Harari
