Some of Hollywood’s top leading ladies say that when it comes to getting naked and doing sex scenes on camera, it depends on the who’s making the call.
Speaking during a Hollywood Reporter roundtable, Julianna Margulies, the star of “The Good Wife,” said bring on the sex scenes.
“It depends on the character you’re playing, she said. “I’ve been playing the same character for seven seasons, and all of a sudden this season the girl is taking her clothes off. I’m seven years older than I was when I started it, and I love it.”
“I mean, it’s CBS, so there’s only so much you can take off, but there’s something great about seeing a woman in her 40s having sex with someone and not being inhibited,” she said. “But my point is just that when you dive into a character and it’s for what they’re going through, you don’t think about that. I wouldn’t have given a second thought if it had been HBO.”
“We had a hilarious moment where they were like, ‘Actually, you have to pull the sheet over your ass because the camera is up here,'” the actress said.” I wasn’t even aware that my ass was sticking out. I apologized to the crew profusely.”
Kerry Washington said that it depends on who is asking and whether it’s just to sell the movie. “Part of it for me is the director and the producers and that trust, she said. “There have been times in my career where the nudity wasn’t about the story, it wasn’t about the character, it was just because that shit sells.”
Constance Zimmer said she is up for anything but she draws the line at “spreading her legs.”
“But saying no before the opportunity comes means you won’t get the opportunity, so I tend to like to say: ‘Show it to me,’ she added. “If I can figure out a way to make it work, I’ll always try.” I mean, I’m not necessarily spreading my legs in front of a camera. I guess there’s my line.”
Jennifer Lopez said before she had kids she was much more willing to do whatever they asked her to do as an actress, but that’s changed now. “It’s the opposite for me once I had kids,”Lopez said.” In videos and things that I do, I’m very sexy and wear little clothes, but the truth is, when it comes to acting, I did it earlier in my career and now I just don’t feel sometimes that you have to do it. I’ve changed in that sense.”
The ladies seemed to come to a full agreement that they were not interested in performing gratuitous sex acts, except for one actress. Kirsten Dunst said, “I’m pretty much down for anything if the director is good.”
