Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders doubled down on his prediction that the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia will be “messy.”

“Well, of course it will be, but everything — that’s what democracy’s about,” Sanders told NBC News reporter Kristin Welker.

He previously suggested that the convention could be “messy” in an interview with the Associated Press about the convention.

Democrats have expressed growing concern Sanders supporters could become unruly in Philadelphia, likening the potential for violence to what happened in Chicago in 1968.
