On Thursday, the Republican nominee for president posted a picture on his Instagram account. In the picture he is celebrating getting to the coveted figure of 1237, which is the number of delegates a candidate for the Republican party needed to have in order to win the nomination. The photo shows an opened Diet Coke, an almost empty box of french fries and a Big Mac. The caption next to the picture read, “Celebrating 1237!”
Trump was able to cross the coveted threshold of delegates after the Associated Press interviewed some of the party’s unbound delegates who now say they will support him.
California, Montana, New Mexico, New Jersey and South Dakota still have yet to vote. They will hold their primaries on June 7, but Trump will not be named the official nominee until the party’s convention takes place in July.
