An unidentified gunman shot a teenage girl in the leg at the entrance of the Anacostia Metro station Sunday night in a shocking display of random violence. Authorities took the woman to a local area hospital where she is recovering from the gunshot wound. Witnesses say the station had a moderate crowd of passengers traveling for the holiday, leaving riders rattled.

“It’s like everyday you expect something to happen,” Tracey Cobb, a rider at the station, told WJLA. “I don’t understand what’s really going on. It’s like you don’t know, you know? Is this going to be my last day when I get on Metro or what?”

shooting in the early hours of Memorial Day in northeast D.C. near Carver-Langston left 40-year-old Tyrone Bradley dead. Police found 32-year-old Russell Crawford late Monday afternoon injured in another shooting, in northwest D.C. near Shaw. Crawford suffered from “multiple gunshot wounds” and later died at a local hospital, reports WUSA9.

Two men were shot and injured Monday evening in a separate incident in Washington Highlands, however their wounds are described as non-life threatening. Police have not arrested anyone in connection with any of the separate shootings. The MPD is asking for members of the community to assist as they investigate.
