The State Department Sure Does Lie A Lot

Font Size:

I don’t like being lied to, no matter whether the liar has a (D) or an (R) after his name. But a lot of our moral, ethical, and intellectual betters are willing to accept politically motivated falsehoods, as long as the Democrats get what they want. They’re more than happy to enforce one set of standards for one side of the aisle, and none at all for the other.

Jake Tapper is not one of those journalists.

The Iran deal, just like every other Obama “success story,” was sold to us with lies. Then the State Dept. lied about those lies. Then lied about those lies. And on and on, like a hall of mirrors. Now it’s just a matter of waiting for their next lie to explain their previous lies.

In a way, the Obama administration really is the most transparent in American history. Their excuses are so thin, you can see right through them.

I know a bit about the State Department’s tenuous relationship with the truth. But it’s one thing for them to lie about one of their employees making an illegal left turn and crippling a wingnut blogger. It’s quite another to lie to the American public in order to help Iran become a nuclear power, just because Obama really wants it to happen.

“If you like your Israel, you can keep your Israel. Honest.”

I’m glad Tapper is holding their feet to the fire. I don’t expect anything to come of it, but at least he’s making a principled stand.
