Speaker of the House Rep. Paul Ryan says that Donald Trump has “has ways to go to give us a campaign that we can be proud of.”

In an interview on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” Thursday, Ryan said, “Look, I think his stage presence is something that’s different than say what I would do. But my personal interactions, I find [that he] has a very evenhanded temperament.” (RELATED: Ryan: Trump’s Comments On Hispanic Judge Are ‘Indefensible’ [VIDEO])

Regarding Trump’s comments about Gonzalo Curiel, the Mexican-American judge overseeing the Trump University case, host Andrea Mitchell asked, “You have even said that what [Trump] said about Judge Curiel was the ‘textbook definition of racism.’ How can you then say ‘but you know, he’s okay to be president?'”

“Well look, I think there’s no justifying those comments and I was very clear about that,” Ryan replied, “And I think we all, everybody, not just Republicans should disavow comments like that and I’m glad he walked it back. This is a long campaign, a long way to go and he has ways to go to give us a campaign that we can be proud of.”
