President Barack Obama complained that it was “not difficult” for Orlando gunman Omar Mateen to obtain firearms, but he didn’t get the terminology right: he referred to a Glock having “a lot of clips in it.”

Speaking Monday from the Oval Office in the aftermath of the Orlando terrorist attack, Obama said, “It also appears that he was able to obtain these weapons legally, because he did not have a criminal record that in some ways would prohibit him from purchasing these weapons.” (VIDEO: Democratic Rep. Mateen, who killed 49 people, was private security officer who received multiple background checks.

“It appears that one of those weapons he was able to just carry out of the store, an assault rifle,” Obama said. Adding, “A handgun — a Glock — which had a lot of clips in it. He was apparently required to wait for three days under Florida law. But it does indicate the degree to which it was not difficult for him to obtain these kinds of weapons.”

The AR-15 semi-automatic rifle that Mateen used is a magazine-fed rifle, as is the Glock handgun. Inside the magazines are the bullets. Nowhere in those guns are “clips.”
