The Democratic National Committee sent out a fundraising email to supporters Monday night calling for donations to take “action” in the wake of the Orlando shooting.

In it, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, DNC Chairwoman, and the Democratic Party asks for donations after noting the list of recent high-profile mass shootings, including Arizona congresswoman Gabby Giffords in 2011, Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut in 2012 and the 2015 attack on a black congregation in South Carolina. The email does not explicitly mention terrorism or the threat of radical Islamist ideology. Wasserman Schultz described the Orlando terrorist attack as follows:

“The worst shooting in U.S. history, when 49 of our fellow Americans were killed and many others injured in a gay club after a night of celebrating, like so many of their LGBT brothers and sisters across the country, this month of Pride.”

The email never actually mentions gun control, but many Democrats, including presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton have called for it. The gunman pledged allegiance to ISIS prior to the attack, and the FBI has stated that the gunman had expressed a desire to die as a martyr in the name of Islam.

The fundraising email made no mention of a call for action against radical Islamist ideology, and instead appeared to focus its efforts on gun control and curtailing the second amendment. RNC Chairman Reince Priebus responded via twitter, calling the fundraising email “Disgraceful, insensitive and reprehensible.”
