Ellen DeGeneres, who plays the voice of Dory in the upcoming movie “Finding Dory,” says the new Disney film will feature a transgender stingray.
In an interview with USA Today, DeGeneres said, “I’ll tell you a little secret. There’s a stingray that’s becoming sting-Rhonda, so there’s a trans-sting in the movie.”
DeGeneres said, “I think it is both darker and lighter. And I’ve said to many people because it’s more complex and layered and there’s more messaging in it that it’s still obviously a kids film, it’s an animated Disney, Pixar film but it’s more, I think adults will be equally, if not more drawn to this film.”

When the trailer for the movie was initially released, speculation arose that the film might feature a lesbian couple.
Regarding that speculation, DeGeneres said, “I don’t mind the question and I don’t know if it’s true or not or I don’t know that it is if she just has a bad short haircut, you know? Who knows if she’s a lesbian.”
