Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell slammed Senate Democrats for their short-lived filibuster arguing that because of their “talk-a-thon,” they missed a “significant” FBI briefing on the Orlando terrorist attack.

Speaking from the Senate floor on Thursday, McConnell said, “Yesterday, the FBI director came to deliver a critical briefing on Orlando and explained what needed to prevent terrorist attacks in the future. Senate Republicans attended and asked serious questions.” (RELATED: Senate Democrats Launch Filibuster On Gun Control)

“A rather significant group of Senate Democrats skipped the briefing all together for a campaign talk-a-thon out here on the Senate floor,” McConnell fumed.

On Wednesday, Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy led a less than 15-hour filibuster calling for more gun control. The Connecticut senator was joined by Sen. Richard Blumenthal, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, Florida Sen. Bill Nelson, Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, New York Sen. Chuck Schumer, West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin and Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey.
