Red Hot Chili Peppers lead singer Anthony Kiedis helped save a baby’s life during the filming of a “Late, Late Show” segment.

Kiedis told UK radio host Chris Moyles Thursday that the incident happened while shooting with NBC host James Corden for a “Car Pool Karaoke” segment, according to Billboard. (RELATED: Red Hot Chili Peppers Lead Singer Hospitalized, Show Canceled)

Keidis said he and Corden had just stopped to do a dance-off when a women came running out of her house screaming that her baby couldn’t breath.

“We all ran across the street. The lady thrust her baby into my arms. The baby was not breathing. I thought, ‘I’m gonna try and do a little baby CPR real quick, see if I can get some air in this kid,'” Keidis said. “Tried to open the mouth. [It was] locked shut. So I started rubbing the belly, bubbles came out of the mouth, the eyes rolled back into place.”

The singer said that by the time the ambulance arrived, the baby was breathing normally, and they went back to shooting the segment. Kiedis noted that it was “kind of beautiful thing” that they had stopped to do the dance-off, or they might not have been there to help save the child’s life, and he denied that he was a hero.
