Anton Yelchin has died at the age of 27 following a freak car accident.
On Sunday, the “Star Trek” star’s publicist confirmed that the actor had died after he was crushed between his own car and a brick mailbox at his home, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
“It appears he momentarily exited his car and it rolled backward, causing trauma that led to his death,” Jenny Houser, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police department, said.
The actor, best known for his role playing “Chekov” in the new sci-fi reboot movies, was found by friends who had went to look for him when he failed to show up for rehearsal.
“Star Trek” director, co-stars and other celebrities reacted on social media to the heartbreaking news.
I loved Anton Yelchin so much. He was a true artist – curious, beautiful, courageous. He was a great pal and a great son. I’m in ruins.
