A new video shows a bizarre coaching session where Chinese bank employees are publicly spanked for not performing well.
The incident led to suspensions and a public apology. In the video, a corporate coach uses a paddle to spank his way down a line of eight men and women, smacking them on the butt one by one in front of a crowd of more than 200 employees. One woman appears to jump in pain after being hit, and loud smacks can be heard from the swats.
“Why you ranked the lowest today?” the coach asks, according to People’s Daily in China. The employees answer, “Because I have not exceeded myself.”
Another employee allegedly had his head partially shaved as punishment during the weekend, CNN reports. The Changzhi Zhangze Rural Commercial Bank said they paid a corporate coach train employees Saturday. The incident caused outrage in China after the video surfaced.
The coach released an apology video and the bank’s supervising company has ousted two executives from their jobs. Bank officials said they are still investigating.
