During a Monday interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) stated he didn’t think Donald Trump should select former House Speaker Newt Gingrich as a running mate.

“I’ve got Newt’s seat, as you may know, that he held from 78-99,” Price explained. “I think Newt is incredibly talented and extremely bright and absolutely politically adept.”

“I think probably the picture of the party is better served by another individual,” he continued. “I’ll leave that up to Donald Trump, but I think that some youth on the ticket would be a good thing.”

Price also complimented Rep. Tom Cotton when asked about the prospect of Trump naming him VP.

“I served with Tom [Cotton] in the House,” Price noted. “Tom is a very articulate and dynamic individual. I think some youth would be helpful.”

A recent Bloomberg Politics poll showed that 29 percent of Republican voters prefer Gingrich as Trump’s running mate, compared to only 3 percent for Cotton. (POLL: Clear Favorites Emerge For Trump, Clinton VP Picks)
