Islamic jihadist suicide bombers went to Qaa, a Christian Lebanese village near Syria, and slaughtered five people while injuring 15 others Monday.

Four suicide bombers launched their attack on the predominantly Christian town, and it is unclear what terrorist group they belonged to. Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah claims the Islamic State has the of Qaa citizens’ blood on its hands, according to the Associated Press.

Hezbollah is a militant group affiliated with Shia Islam and receives funding from Iran. More often than not, terrorist attacks in Lebanon are perpetrated and claimed by Hezbollah.

The attacks began around 4 a.m. local time. Al Jazeera journalist Natasha Ghoneim, based in Beirut, reported, “there was a fight and one of the men detonated a bomb.” The three remaining suicide bombers took advantage of the ensuing chaos as people gathered to see what happened after the first suicide bomb went off.

Ghoneim reported that going after a Christian civilian target would be a first for ISIS if it is in fact behind the suicide bombings. The group “has focused on Hezbollah targets and the Lebanese military, so the big question to be asked right now – if ISIL is involved – is whether this marks a new approach; will ISIL be targeting more than just Hezbollah and the Lebanese military inside Lebanon?”
