UFC superstar Ronda Rousey has been named one of the most powerful women in sports.
The former champion was one of the major names of Adweek’s 30 most powerful women sports, who will be recognized at the Clio Sports gala in New York on July 7. (SLIDESHOW: These Are The Hottest Photos Of Ronda Rousey On The Internet)
Rousey was recognized for not only her fighting skills, but also how she been a star outside of fighting.
Adweek wrote in part:
As the UFC has made headway in the American sports consciousness, Ronda Rousey has given the sport the one thing it’s been lacking: a bona fide superstar. She’s making her way out of the fighter’s circle, with roles in The Expendables 3, Furious 7 and upcoming starring turns in a Road House reboot and the Tina Fey comedy Do Nothing Bitches. Last December, Rousey became only the third female athlete — and the first in 22 years—to host NBC’s Saturday Night Live.
There has been no date set for when the former champion will return, but clearly she’s still a rising star in the entertainment and sports world. (SLIDESHOW: This Gorgeous Olympian Loves To Show Off Lots Of Skin)
