Former Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson joked that if his mother was able to during the campaign, “she probably would have taken a gun and gone out and shot some of the dishonest reporters.”
Appearing on The Brown and Scoop Podcast on Wednesday, host Brandon, “Scoop B” Robinson asked Carson, “What would your mother have thought if she were alive to see you run for the White House?” (RELATED: Team Carson: ‘Politico Story Is An Outright Lie’)

“Well, my mother is still alive, by the way,” Carson replied, correcting Robinson. “She has Alzheimer’s.”
Carson said that his mother is “really is not cognizant of that, which is a good thing, because my mother is really a fighter.”
“And she probably would have taken a gun and gone out and shot some of the dishonest reporters,” Carson joked, laughing.
During the campaign Carson notably sparred with outlets, including Politico, for the accuracy of their stories.
