According to police in Augusta, Maine, two legally armed bystanders stepped in and ended a shooting in the parking lot of a local Walmart, local NBC affiliate WCSH 6 reports.

Four suspects were taken into custody by police after the incident on Sunday. The shooting reportedly began when the occupants of two parked cars began firing at each other. Witnesses say the shooting then stopped and the occupants of one of the vehicles got out to look at the other vehicle.

Before they reached the other vehicle, however, two armed bystanders who had been in the Walmart stepped in with their weapons drawn and halted the incident, holding the occupants of both vehicles, until police arrived.

The four suspects — Kwiesha McBride, Frankie Dejesus, Diana Davis and Samantha Tupper — only one of whom was injured, are charged with varying combinations of Class C reckless conduct with a firearm, Class B aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs (heroin), and Class B aggravated assault. All are being held at the county jail and none have a bail of more than $50,000.

Police declined to name the two hero bystanders, but neither were charged with any crime.
