An elite private school in New York City is segregating children by race, and then telling white children they are born racist and must atone for their white privilege.

The Bank Street School for Children is a hundred years old, charges as much as $46,000 a year in tuition, and touts its expertise in “progressive education.” In the two years since Ferguson, Missouri teenager Michael Brown’s death, Bank Street has upgraded its notions of what constitutes progressive learning, and some parents are alarmed.

Bank Street began segregating white and non-white students as young as six for certain lessons, with whites placed in an “Advocacy Group” while the non-white students are placed in the “KOC Affinity Group,” according to the New York Post. A slideshow image obtained by the Post shows children in the KOC Affinity Group “feel embraced” and are encouraged to “explore risks” during “an opportunity to be in a majority setting.”

Meanwhile, children in the Advocacy Group “learn models of White anti-racist advocates,” “challenge assumptions of ‘normal,’ ‘good,’ and ‘American,'” and learn about the “prevalence of Whiteness and privilege.”

The Post also obtained a 2015 FAQ created by the school to explain the program. The FAQ tells parents that, if their children complain the KOC Affinity Group is unfair, they should explain to them that “people of color are treated unfairly” in U.S. society, and that they need to do their part to combat a “long history of oppression.”

“Ever since Ferguson, the school has been increasing anti-white propaganda in its curriculum,” one anonymous parent complained to the the New York Post. (RELATED: White Privilege Conference Attendees Complain Conference Is Too White)

Deliberately segregating black and white students remains relatively rare (though not unheard of) in K-12 education, but it’s increasingly common at the college level. Oregon State University held several racially-divided retreats in early January, and activists at the University of Missouri split up along racial lines as well during major protests last fall.
