Esther Levy says she was thrown out of a Warwick, N.Y. Mexican restaurant for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat and other Trump apparel, according to the New York Post.

Levy states that she and a friend sat at the bar of the Cancun Inn and ordered drinks from a waitress without incident. But shortly after that, their waitress approached them and told them they had to leave.

According to Levy, “She [the waitress] seemed very surprised by it all and was told to refuse us service. We just got up and started to leave.”

Levy says that the incident escalated from there. A man who identified himself as a co-owner of the restaurant berated her and said, “We don’t serve Trump supporters here. Get out of here and never come back.”

Levy’s friend replied that Trump was going to win the general election, to which the restaurant co-owner replied that Hillary would prevail.

After Levy began publicizing her story, the Cancun Inn’s Facebook page was flooded with criticism. Several people vowed to boycott the restaurant.

The restaurant’s staff posted a message on Facebook stating that Levy and her friend were removed from the restaurant for “obnoxious behavior,” but Levy disputes that version of events.

“That’s ridiculous,” she said. “They made it very clear why we were kicked out. It was because I was a Trump supporter, and that’s it.”
