In Raleigh, North Carolina last night Donald Trump said Saddam Hussein got at least one thing right.
“Saddam Hussein was a bad guy, right?” Trump told supporters. “He was a bad guy – really bad guy. But you know what he did well? He killed terrorists. He did that so good. They didn’t read them the rights. They didn’t talk. They were terrorists, it was over.”
The real estate magnate, who supposedly has changed his position on almost everything, made similar comments in March and five years ago.
He told Human Events in 2011 that, “Whether you like Saddam Hussein or not, and I don’t—he was a bad guy—but he used to shoot the terrorists; he used to kill them. He didn’t give them a trial like this country, where the trial lasts for 21 years. He used to shoot the terrorists and kill them. There were no terrorists, very little terrorists in Iraq.”
Hussein actually sponsored many terrorist groups. But the false claim from neo-cons that Hussein was complicit in 9/11 ginned up support for invading Iraq.

But why should anybody even care about that? Are these kind of remote connections that journalists constantly and ostentatiously disclose really relevant?
