An obscure black power group made a post Thursday on Facebook taking credit for the shooting in Dallas, Texas, and promised a wave of additional attacks in the future.

The Black Power Political Organization (BPPO) had only 300 Facebook likes, but up through Thursday it routinely posted diatribes extolling the black nationalist cause and pledging acts of violence.

Just after 11 p.m. Thursday night, before the shooting in Dallas was over, BPPO posted a triumphal message celebrating the work of “our assassins.” The shooting left five officers dead and seven injured.

‪”#‎BlackPower‬! ‪#‎BlackKnights‬! Sniper Assassins Take Down Five Police Officers!” The group said in its post. “And More Will Be Assassinated In The Coming Days! Do You Like The Work Of Our Assassins? Get Your Own Sniper Rifle And Join Our Thousands Of Sniper Assassins Worldwide In The Fight Against Oppression!” (RELATED: Video Shows Dallas Shooter Hitting Cop At Point-Blank Range)

The strange wording and capitalization of BPPO’s statement was in line with dozens of posts it has made stretching back several months. While the group’s page was deleted by Friday morning, it can still be seen by viewing Google’s cached version of it.

“‪#‎BlackPower‬! ‪#‎BlackKnights‬! Getting Up Everyday Talking About The Same Thing,” the group posted June 24, in a post prior to the shooting. “Not Doing Nothing To Bring About Any Change. A 1000 Years! You Will Still Be Talking About The Same Thing! Did Marcus Garvey Only Talk And Take No Action? Did Martin Luther King Only Talk And Take No Action? Did Harriet Tubman Only Talk And Take No Action? So What Are You Going To Do, To Bring About The Changes You Want? Talk? or Take Action?”

The page also frequently posted photos of black men in military gear, and touted the power of its “sniper assassins,” an ominous threat given the Dallas shooting involved gunmen sniping police from an elevated position.

Despite the page’s heated rhetoric, it gives no direct proof that any of the Dallas suspects were affiliated with it. Notably, suspect Micah X. Johnson, who was killed by a police bomb robot, did not like the group on Facebook, despite liking dozens of other black groups, and told police he was not affiliated with any group.
