Authorities placed the U.S. Capitol on lockdown briefly Friday morning after reports of a woman with a gun entering one of the Congressional offices.
Some reports say a woman, possibly a staffer, was seen entering the Rayburn House building with a firearm. Officials sent a blast email throughout the Capitol at 9:09 a.m. reporting the lockdown, ordering everyone to shelter in place.
Police were searching for a suspect, possibly armed, but have yet to release further details. An officer told ABC News they are responding to “sketchy” reports of a woman with a gun. The lockdown was lifted at about 9:40 a.m.
Police were blocking access to the premises.
