Okay, folks, the day you’ve been waiting for here. Tomorrow, July 12, is Amazon’s second annual Prime Day. To make sure you’re prepared, here is a “primer” (get it?) on everything to know.

First off, what is Prime Day?

The Prime Day tradition began last July, as Amazon looked to create a summer version of “Black Friday.” Basically, it is an excuse to offer steep discounts on all sorts of items. In fact, more than 100,000 products will be on sale tomorrow as part of this event.

So anyone can get deals on Amazon tomorrow?

As the name indicates, the Prime Day discounts are only available for Amazon Prime members. What is Amazon Prime? It’s basically Amazon’s version of a loyalty program. As an Amazon Prime member, you get free two-day shipping, exclusive access to sale prices and a subscription video service, to name a few of the perks.

What if I don’t want free two-day shipping and all that other stuff? Can I still take part in Prime Day?

Yes. Amazon is offering a 30-day free trial to Prime you can sign up for with the sole purpose of taking advantage of tomorrow’s deals. With the bargains available tomorrow, there is no excuse not to take advantage of the free trial.

What deals should I look for tomorrow?

Amazon promises: “From TVs to headphones and slow cookers to vitamins – Prime Day will include deals on things you want, things you need, and everything in between.” Specifically, shoppers are told to keep an eye on televisions. As the VP of Amazon Prime put it, “In fact, in the U.S. we have nearly double the TV units compared to Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined.”

Okay, keep an eye on TVs. Anything else?

Toys are also supposed to be heavily discounted tomorrow. And if we know anything about Amazon, there are likely to be record low prices on stuff they make, like the Echo and other speakers in the Alexa family. That said, there’s no telling what all will be on sale. Part of it will be waiting and seeing.

When does Prime Day officially start?

Prime Day starts at midnight Pacific Time, or 3 a.m. Eastern Time.

How do I keep track of Prime Day deals?

Amazon will continuously update its deal section – called the “Gold Box” – all day tomorrow, so you should probably have that bookmarked. Furthermore, the Daily Dealer will be closely tracking Prime Day. We will tell you about the best deals on our site as well on Twitter and Facebook.
