A major Cleveland police union threatened to leave the Browns without protection Tuesday in response to an anti-cop social media post by a player.

Cleveland Browns player Isaiah Crowell posted a picture July 6 of a cop getting his throat slashed by a masked person. He has since apologized but still faces backlash from critics demanding more. Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association President Stephen Loomis notes the team could be left without uniformed officers in protest.

“He needs to go to Dallas, help the families who lost their loved ones last week, write them a check, look them in the eyes and give a heartfelt apology,” Loomis told TMZ. “I will pull Cleveland officers, sheriffs, state troopers out of First Energy Stadium this season if he doesn’t make it right.”

Loomis adds the post is as offensive as putting a picture of black people being hung from a tree. Crowell admits his emotions got the better of him last week when Alton Sterling and Philando Castile were allegedly killed by police. He has since admitted he was wrong and has even met with the chief of police personally.

“Last week was an emotional and difficult week as we saw extreme acts of violence against black men across our country as well as against police officers in Dallas,” Crowell said in a statement provided to The Washington Post. “I posted an image to Instagram in the midst of that emotion that I shouldn’t have and immediately removed it. It was an extremely poor decision and I apologize for that mistake and for offending people. My values and beliefs do not match that image.”

Nevertheless Loomis was not satisfied with the apology and believes Crowell should do more for police to make amends. Loomis notes he should go to Dallas to help the families who lost loved ones when a sniper killed five officers. He also  believes the National Football League should consider penalizing Crowell.

“You’re a grown ass man, and you claim you were too emotional to know it was wrong?” Loomis declared. “Think we’ll accept your apology? Kiss my ass.”
