Francois Hollande Pays His Hairdresser A Six-Figure Salary And People Are Outraged

The French are furious after they learned that their president pays his hairdresser a six-figure salary.

Dubbed coiffeurgate, a government spokesman incited outrage when he confirmed that Francois Hollande pays “Olivier B.” nearly $11,000 a month to take care of his wispy, balding head. (RELATED: You Too Can Live Like Chelsea Clinton For A Mere $6 Million)

“I can understand the questions, I can understand that there are judgments,” government spokesman Stephane Le Foll said in a statement. “Everyone has their hair done, don’t they? This hairdresser had to abandon his salon and he’s on tap 24 hours a day.”

Though the stylist also receives a housing allowance and other family benefits, the demands on him are so great that he has missed the births of his children, the Guardian noted Wednesday.

He also agreed to “maintain absolute secrecy about his work and any information he may have gathered both during and after his contract.”
