Johnny Depp appeared on the red carpet Sunday night for the first time since his messy and public divorce from Amber Heard.
Depp was seen alongside his Hollywood Vampires bandmates for the yearly Starkey Hearing Foundation Awards in St. Paul, Minn. The celeb-packed event also included Jennifer Garner, Buzz Aldrin and Jay Leno.
In May, Heard filed for divorce from Depp after just 15 months of marriage. The starlet claimed that Depp physically abused her during their relationship, a claim that Depp and his team have denied. She was granted a temporary domestic violence restraining order against him and is set to testify against Depp soon to make it permanent.
Depp hung out with famed rocker Alice Cooper and his wife Sheryl Goddard on the carpet while wearing a snazzy black-on-black outfit. One source told E! News that Depp was “coherent” and “very passionate” about the foundation. The source even said that Depp became choked up at one moment while discussing the cause.
Before Depp’s band took the stage to perform, he and Cooper talked about the role of the foundation and how much it means to them.
“I’ve been lucky enough to play characters like Edward Scissorhands, Captain Jack Sparrow,” Depp said. “My only sort of goal is of making someday a positive change.”
