Director Antoine Fuqua, best known for the 2001 film “Training Day,” is attempting to remake John Sturge’s 1960 classic Western “The Magnificent Seven.”

The highly-anticipated remake just upped the ante with a brand new trailer that shows off the film’s entertaining action and sly humor. Check it out below.

“The Magnificent Seven” has been a popular source of inspiration in film over the last twelve months, inspiring Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight” and Adam Sandler’s “The Ridiculous Six.” But Fuqua’s version is a true remake of the original.

The film will re-team Denzel Washington — who headlines as bounty hunter Chisolm, recruited by Emma Cullen (Hayley Bennett) to exact vengeance on evil industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard) — with Fuqua for the third time. Washington famously won his only Academy Award under Fuqua’s eye in “Training Day.”

Chisolm is joined by a team of six others: Josh Farraday (Chris Pratt), Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), Jack Horne (Vincent D’Onofri), Billy Rocks (Byung-Hun Lee), Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Ulfo) and Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier). Together, the outnumbered rag-tag crew take on Bogue and his army. Gun fights, explosions and hilarity ensue.

“The Magnificent Seven” is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Sept. 23.
