Former Secret Service officer in the Clinton White House Gary Byrne spoke to The Daily Caller Tuesday about violence he witnessed from Hillary Clinton and defended himself from criticisms from fellow Secret Service officers.

In June the Association of Former Agents of the United States Secret Service denounced his tell-all “Crisis of Character: A White House Secret Service Officer Discloses His Firsthand Experience with Hillary, Bill, and How They Operate.” Folks have argued that since he was a uniformed officer and not in the protective division he would have had access to the stories he published.

In response to this Byrne said pointed out that, “unfortunately my claim to fame is I was the first secret service employee to be subpoenaed to testify against a sitting president.”

When he testified in 1998 during the Clinton-Monica Lewinsky scandal he said, “we’re there all the time. I mean, we’re sort of like doorknobs. I know that’s kind of a little hard to fathom, but I mean people have had incredible personal conversations in front of me.”

Byrne said that “legal steps are being taken” against the organization of former secret service officers to “stop the slander.” When asked what prompted him to write his tell-all, Byrne said: “my fear is that the American people really don’t know who she is, what you see on TV is not really who she is. Mrs. Clinton is not a leader.”

“She walks around like a dictator and berates and harasses the people that protect her. She got so angry one time she hit a secret service agent on the back of the head with a bible,” Byrne said. The former secret service officer and Air Force veteran also worries about who would “protect the women on [Hillary’s] staff” with Bill Clinton back in office.

When asked if Hillary Clinton had a short fuse or whether actions Byrne witnessed were out of a classist mindset, Byrne replied, “she thinks everybody else is below her.” Byrne said colleagues of his are still working at the White House but they “never would” complain about working for Hillary again, adding that “they would do the right thing.” If he were still at the White House, Byrne said, he would protect Clinton unconditionally. “I would protect her with all I have,” he said, choking up. “That’s the job.”
