PHILADELPHIA — Mothers of children championed by Black Lives Matter took the stage at the Democratic National Convention Tuesday endorsing Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and calling for gun control.

The mothers’ children Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin and Eric Garner.

“Hillary Clinton has the compassion and understanding to support grieving mothers,” Sybrina Fulton, mother of Martin, said. “She has the courage to lead the fight for commonsense gun legislation. She has a plan to divide that so often exists between law enforcement and the communities they serve.”

Hillary has sought to curry favor with Black Lives Matter to get out the minority vote. Her success with that demographic was key to her victory over Sen. Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary.

“This isn’t about being politically correct,” Fulton said. “This is about saving our children. Hillary is one mother who can ensure our movement will succeed.”The mothers exited the stage to chants of “Black Lives Matter!”

The other mothers on stage parented Sandra Bland, Hadiya Pendleton, Jordan Davis and Dontre Hamilton.

“Hillary Clinton knows that when a young black life is cut short, it’s not just a personal loss,” said Bland’s mother, Geneva Reed-Veal. “It is a national loss. It is a loss that diminishes all of us.”
