Robby Mook, Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager said Monday that the emails hacked from the Democratic National Committee as well as the Clinton campaign are being leaked “for the purpose of embarrassing her campaign.”

Appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” host Joe Scarborough asked Mook if Clinton “agreed with Mitt Romney’s assessment back in 2012 that Russia is one of the greatest threats facing America.” (RELATED: Mook Juke: Hillary’s Deleted Emails Are ‘Not A Relevant Discussion’ [VIDEO])

“Well, I think it certainly is one of the threats,” Mook replied. “Hillary Clinton took on Vladimir Putin a number of times. He blamed her for protests in the country.” (RELATED: Clinton Campaign Hacked)

“Do you think this personal for Putin? Do you think this is personal because she did go after him so hard,” Scarborough followed up.

“I think we have to let the experts piece this together, I’m not a foreign relations expert but, you lay it out. She took on Putin a number of times,” Mook claimed. “She uh, uh, uh, uh, we have seen potential business connections and the Russians are clearly or whoever the Russians gave these e-mails to are clearly leaking them for the purpose of embarrassing her campaign.”
