DC Metro Police Officer Arrested For Aiding ISIS

A DC Metro Transit Police officer was arrested Wednesday for trying to provide material support to Islamic State terrorists, according to a Department of Justice announcement.

Authorities arrested Nicholas Young, a 12-year veteran with the Metro Transit Police, Wednesday morning while on-duty. Young attempted to assist ISIS in carrying out domestic attacks and bought “communication related items” to send to the terrorist organization, reports ABC News.

A source told ABC News that there is, “no pending threat to the D.C. transportation system.”

The arrest followed a several-year investigation by officers posing as ISIS agents with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force in Washington, D.C..

Young is a resident of Fairfax County, Virginia and will appear in court in Alexandria Wednesday afternoon.
