Two days after I recieved this, I found myself with a dead battery and no jumper cables. I had this item in the back of my truck unopened and without the initial charge I assumed would be required. I purchased this for my dad for Father’s Day in June 2015, but luckily he never needed to use it so I never posted a review. Fast forward to February 2016 when my brother-in-law’s huge pick up trunk died in my dad’s driveway. My dad got all excited to use his jumper. UNBELIVABLE!! this little charger can jump a COMPLETELY DEAD 12 VOLT CAR BATTERY. I took this charger to my mechanic to see how good it would work on starting a dead car battery. He had a car in his shop that has been there for two years and wouldn’t start. We connected it to it’s COMPLETED DEAD BATTERY. He turned the key and all the lights, bells and whistles went on. Then he turned the key and the car started immediately. We waited a couple minutes and tried it again and it started the same way. He checked the jumper cables and the red one was just a little warm, no big deal. Compact & lightweight.
